Q

describe the central executive: 3 points

A
  • function - direct attention to particular tasks = coordinating the activity of the STM
  • delegates info to the slave system
  • retrieves info from the LTM

Q

describe the visual spatial sketchpad: 3 points

A
  • used when planning a spatial task
  • deals with visual and spatial info
  • Logic - divided it into two - visual cache and inner scribe

Q

describe the phonological loop: 2 points

A
  • deals with auditory information

- uses the phonological code and inner ear to store recently heard words

Q

describe the episodic buffer: 2 points

A
  • integrates information from the CE, PL and visual spatial sketchpad
  • maintains a sense of time sequencing
