A
A hu-ricane had hit Jamaica in 1944 which meant bad news for it’s main economy
-No tourist industry
-the price of sugar was at an all-time low

A
The British Nationality Act that was passed in 1948

A
Anyone part of the Commonwealth (originally the empire) is now legally a British Passport Holder and were allowed to live and work in Britain
