his decision to oppose communism resulted in US involvement in the cold war and in wars in Korea and Vietnam, Truman’s decision to send American troops to Korea after North Korea attacked South Korea in 1950, he aimed to restore the status quo in Korea and in that he succeeded but he failed when trying to reunify the peninsula. When Truman sent American troops it caused China to enter the war. When Truman aided the french in Vietnam he initiated American involvement in Vietnam

When China became communist in 1949, American switched its attention from Europe to Asia as the storm center of the cold war, Mao gave his consent for Kim Il Sung to attack South Korea

was important to US policies in East Asia for over half a century, was given American aid when he seemed likely to reunite China. Slowly, the US became disillusioned by Jiang and defunded him and after China fell to communism the CNP fled to Taiwan, however when the Korean war broke out, USA wanted Jiang as an ally
