What was agreed at the Tehran Conference (1943)?
A
- D-Day would happen in June 1944
- The Soviet Union would help defeat Japan once Germany was defeated
- The United Nations would be set-up at the end of WW2
- Poland’s borders would be re-set, giving a bit of Eastern Poland as new territory to the USSR (This agreement would not have been made had it not been for the fact that Stalin and President Roosevelt, had really good relations)

What was agreed at the Yalta conference (1945)?
A
- Germany would be split into four zones and Berlin would be split into four, despite being in the USSR’s zone.
- Germany would pay $20 million reparations
- Reaffirmed that the USSR would help defeat Japan
- German war criminals would be punished
- Free elections in occupied countries like Poland

What happened at the Potsdam conference
(July - August 1945)?
A
- Stalin had not taken troops away from Eastern Europe and wanted influence in Poland and did not allow democratic elections
- Stalin and Truman did not get on well. Truman then decided to ‘get tough’
- Germany would be demilitarised
- The USA used the atom bomb on Japan without telling the USSR. This caused tension between the former allies.
