The Variables in Research Flashcards
Characteristics that has two or more mutually exclusive values or properties
Variables in Research
Infinite number can occur within the population. Its values can be divided into fractions.
(AGE, HEIGHT, TEMP)
Continious Variables.
Values that lie along an evenly dispersed range of numbers. Measurement difference between two values does have meaning.
Interval Variable
Dispersed range of numbers when there is absolute zero. Interval variable, clear definition of zero, indication that there is none of that variable.
Ratio Variable
categorical or classificatory variable.
(sex, blood group, and number of children in family. )
Discrete Variable
Categories that cannot be ordered in any particular way
Nominal Variable
Categories can be ordered from greatest to smallest. Have two or more categories which can be ranked.
Ordinal Variable
Probably cause, influence, or affect outcomes
Independent Variable
Depend on the independent variable: they are outcomes or results of the influence of the independent variable.
Dependent Variable
“stand between” the dependent and independent variables
Intervening or Meddling Variables
Special styles of independent variable that are measured in the study because they potentially influence that dependent variable
Control Variable
