Low labour costs (workers are paid significantly less than workers in other countries)
Factories in China sometimes ignore environmental laws, as well as child labour laws
China does not have strict rules about a minimum wage
The cost of land is much cheaper in China so bigger factories can be built
There are 900 million people in China at working age

What has happened to the primary sector of developed economies over time?
Jobs in the primary sector are decreasing over time in developed economies, because of industrial revolutions.
What has happened to the secondary sector of developed economies over time?
For most countries, the secondary sector is decreasing as more manufacturing is happening in other countries like China
What has happened to the tertiary sector of developed economies over time?
It is increasing, because there is more demand for shops in large areas like towns and cities.
What is happening to the quaternary sector of developed economies?
Jobs in the quaternary sector are increasing
Over time, what will happen to the number of secondary sector jobs in China?
Decrease
Why do people move to the tertiary sector?
Better pay, more demand
Why is China unlikely to remain the ‘workshop of the world’?
Wages in Vietnam are lower than the wages in China, and lots of products are made there
Wages in Bangladesh and Cambodia are even cheaper
