How does Stalin differ from Lenin during a famine?

A

In 1921, Lenin did not keep the famine a secret. He allowed international aid - and America did provide famine relief. Lenin introduced NEP in an effort to improve agricultural production. Stalin kept the famine a secret and continued the cruelty of forced collectivisation.

When grain was removed from Ukraine, where was it taken and why?

A

It was taken to be put in storage, suggesting that authorities wanted to protect grain from hungry peasants. Otherwise, they would’ve eaten it during the height of the famine.
