They had to take responsibility for the entire war and had to pay reparations to the allies. They had to give away all land they had managed to achieve and even lost some land they had before the war. Their army was restricted as well

Germany had to pay for the war. The amount set was £6,600 000. Part of this was to be paid by confiscating Germany’s coal mines and steel works.
