What is the blood supply of the thyroid?
Superior thyroid artery (ECA)
Inferior thyroid artery (Thyrocervical trunk)

What is the venous drainage of the thyroid?
Superior, middle, and inferior thyroid veins
What is the innervation of the thyroid?
Superior, middle, and inferior cervical ganglia of the sympathetic trunk
Parasympathetic fibers from the vagus nerve
Where is the tubercle of Zuckerandl located?
Posterolateral aspect of the thyroid lobe
Where is recurrent laryngeal nerve in relation to tubercle of Zuckerandl?
Medial to the tubercle in 93% of patients
Where is the thyroid anatomically?
Usually 2nd to 4th tracheal ring
Middle layer (pretracheal) of deep cervical fascia
Posterior to sternohyoid and sternothyroid muscles
Ligaments of the thyroid
Attached superior-medially by the anterior suspensory ligament
Connects posterior-medially to the 1st and 2nd tracheal ring and the cricoid cartilage by Berry’s ligament
