Q

How does erosion happen

A

Solution- water dissolves soluble materials from the bed and banks. Hydraulic action- Fast flowing river forces water into cracks this breaks the bank up.
Abrasion- Rocks and stones act like sandpaper they scrape the river bed and banks and wear them away.
Attrition- the rocks and stones wear each other away they bang together and knock bits of each other.

Q

What is transportation

A

Solution- Dissovled material is carried along you cannot see it like sugar in tea
Suspension- small light particles of rock and soil are carried along, they make the water look cloudy and muddy.
Bedload- Heavy material is carried along the bottom, the larger the stones and rocks roll along, sand and small stones bounce along
