What happened?
A
- The VC attacked over 100 cities and military targets.
- Saigon (capital of S. Vietnam) was almost captured.
- Ancient cities were destroyed and many civilians were killed upon US recapture.
- It was the turning point of the war as, despite US predictions, the VC was still a very strong force capable of organising massive offensives. It seemed the Communists could not be beaten.

A
- LBJ ended Operation Rolling Thunder.
- Peace negotiations began.
- It was realised that the war could not be won militarily, and that involvement in Vietnam was not worth the cost.
