Parliament is the legislative authority in the UK and consists of the House of Commons, House of Lords and the monarch
What are the roles of parliament
One of the main roles is to examine and challenge the work of the government
What is the executive?
The branch of government which consists of the prime minister and their cabinet ministers.
What are the roles of the executive?
They propose legislation and make policy decisions
What are the powers the prime minister has and what are they called?
Prime minister has the ability to hire and fire government ministers
What are select committees?
Select committees are used to scrutinise the government departments policies and public bill committees examine proposed legislation.
