A

1/ self determination (states is self-ruling and autonomous
2/ Legal equality btw states (states are equal in terms of legal status as soon as they’re internationally recognised by other states)
3/ non-intervention (nothing beyond state borders, no entity or clergy shall intervene in state affairs)

  2. Guardian: state pursues the interest of its population/ varies btw states as expectations and priorities of the populations also do (human security, democracy and right to political participation)
  3. Tool: malleable tool that different groups use to pursue their own interests (lobbying, forming political parties to fight for a cause)
