Ecological context
Setting that influences on individual such as physical social economical and political environment
Adaptation
Refers to the process by which people cope with change in resources in their environment
Succession
Environment are not static and change continuously, refers to orderly processes of community change as the way of adapting to new situations
Interdependence
Model holds that the multiple components of the social context are interrelated and influences parts
Micro system
Smallest social unit that individual interacts directly in and on a regular basis
Meso system
Set of linkages between micro system or setting in which individual is located
Development would be enhanced if different settings have direct contact/influence
Exo system
System that influences person but with whom he/she doesn’t have direct contact/influence
Macro system
Broader system that impacts individual ( government policies and decisions, ideologies and belief systems) - attitudes and values of people
How does Brocher define communities
Complex human systems that depend on collective and cooperative efforts to achieve objectives.They are formal organization, the patterns of organization of communities people form to meet their needs have an infinite variety
What is building capacity
By developing resources in community helping community develop new resources, change may be sustainable as an institutionalized part of society
