What are the 5 major oceans
Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, & Southern
What are the 4 Directions
North, South, East & West
What is a Boundary?
A Line that marks the limit of a country’s or state’s territory
What is a Channel?
A Body of Water Joining two larger bodies of water
What is a Delta?
A triangular section at the mouth of a river
What is an Isthmus?
A narrow strip of land between two bodies of water that joins two larger land areas
What is a Plateau?
An area of flat land surrounded by steep slopes on several sides
What is a reservoir?
A lake that forms behind a dam, made by humans to hold water from one or more rivers or streams
What is a Strait?
A narrow waterway that joins two larger bodies of water (similar to a channel)
What is Source?
The starting point of a river (Usually in the mountains)
What is the Mouth?
The place where a river empties into a large body of water
What is a Tributary?
A smaller river that flows into a larger river
Drainage Basin?
The area of land that a river and its tributaries drain water from
Peninsula?
A body of land surrounded by water on three sides
Harbor?
An area of water that is protected by land; an inlet along a coast
Bay?
A section of the ocean that is partially surrounded by land
An Island?
Land completely surrounded by water
Coast?
The land that runs along an ocean or gulf
Valley?
A large lowland between hills or mountains
Desert?
Dry land that gets little moisture
Oasis?
An area of green in a desert
Prairie?
A large area of level or gently rolling grasslands
