What are the sacraments of healing?

A
  • anointing of the sick
  • reconciliation and forgiveness
  • encourages people who are sick to overcome the alienation of their illness
  • Jesus brings healing through prayer, the sacraments, the Eucharist and the anointing of the sick
  • not about physical healing illness
  • reminding a sick person they are completely loved by God
  • helping make people feel peaceful in their situation
  • to anoint the sick a bishop will:
    ~lay hands on a sick person
    ~prays for the person in the faith of the church
    ~anoints the forehead and hands of the sick person with oil blessed by a priest

What is involved with the sacrament of baptism

A
  • the white robe used in baptismal practices signifies innocence and removal of original sin
  • water is used as it is an ancient sign of cleansing
    ~ wash away our sins
  • oil of chrism
    ~ sign of abundance or joy
    ~ sign of cleansing or healing
    ~ seals the Holy Spirit in the life of the follower
  • candles are present at baptisms as sign of the light of Christ
