What would the poor people eat? ๐
For Breakfast: Olives, porridge, dates, nuts, water and wine
For Dinner: Stew, beans, lentils, and sometimes meat
What would the rich eat? ๐ท
3 courses: Ousters, mussels and salads. Then meat covered in spices. For desert there was nuts, grapes, dried fruit and ๐ฐ
What did the men wear? ๐
A Knee-length tunic tied at the waist made from Cotten. Also wore togas and sandals.
What did women wear? ๐
Long tunics. A married girl wore an ankle length dress called a stola, a shawl called a paella and sandals.
What is an insulae? ๐ก
Most romans lived in an insulae. They were up to 8 floors high and accessed by ladders. Poor heating. No pied water or toilets. Rent cheap on higher floors, often fell down and too dangerous to have ๐ฅ
What is a villa? ๐ก ๐ฐ
Many rich romans lived in a villa. A family might live in a domus. A shop occupied the street front of the domus. Surrounded by walls.Small pool called an impluvium. Peristyle garden. Floors made from marble. Very little furniture.
