Q

What is a strength of research into then fathers role of attachment?

A

P-A strength of research into the father’s role in attachment is that it can be used to give advice to parents in the real world.

E-Parents and prospective parents often stress over who will be the primary caregiver, for some this puts into question whether to have children or not. This can also lead to mothers feeling pressure to stay at home and look after the children and place pressure on fathers to focus work rather than parenting. In some families this might not be economically viable. Research into the role of fathers in attachment can help to remove these stressors from the parent’s lives and enable them to be able to share responsibility for the child without worry. This can also help lesbian couples as it can show them that not having a male attachment figure won’t negatively affect the child.

C-This means that parental anxiety over the role of the father can be reduced.
