Why was the Wall Street Crash so vital in why the Nazi Party increased support?
As Germany was heavily reliant on the USA economy, when the USA retracted its loans, Germany was left in massive debt. As the entire world’s trade plummeted to 70%, trade and industrial production also fell. This meant that the unemployment figures rose along with poverty. This then caused people to resent the German government even more as they were the ones who caused their distress. Thus, many people turned to extremist parties like the Nazi party as they were the only ones who were supplying them with the solutions they wanted to hear. They were also the only parties who also detested the Weimar Constitution and wanted to see its fall.
What was the unemployment figure in 1932?
5 million
When was the Wall Street Crash?
October 1929
