A mercenary is a soldier paid to fight for another country.
Why were the mercenaries called Hessians
They came from the German state of Hesse-Kassel.
Surveyor
A person who measures land. George Washington was a surveyor at the age of 16.

Nathan Hale
He was a 21-year old Patriot spy in New York. He drew plans of troop positions but he was captured. As he walked to the gallows he said, “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.
Explain James Madison
He came to the Convention 11 days early. Long before the meeting, he had asked his friend Thomas Jefferson, who was in Paris, France, for books about the government of other countries. He sent a ton of books back with all info. Madison spent all his daylight hours reading. He also kept a record of mostly everything that happened at the convention.
What is the Legislative Branch?
The Congress who made laws for the country and raised money for the central government.
What was the Virginia plan?
The Virginia plan called for two houses of Congress that would be based on population. A large debate was gong on between the large states and the small states. Large states liked the plan because it gave them more reps than the smaller states. Smaller states didn’t like it, because they had less power.
What is the Executive Branch?
President’s role is to carry out laws made by the Congress.
What is the judicial branch?
Would decide the meaning of laws. The Supreme Court would head the judicial branch.
