The data protection act requirements must be incorporated into each specific workplace’s policy
All volunteers and employees have responsibility to ensure the confidentiality of service users information
If they spot weakened in this they must raise concerns
How should data be stored, recorded and accessed
Should be stored in locked rooms in locked filing cabinets. Or protected by a password
Only staff that need to know data should have access
Information should be shared with professionals that need to know it to better the care of the service user
How should confidentiality and safeguarding of data received be maintained
They must have a valid professional reasons to be able to access
If any information give by a vulnerable child or adult they they are in danger. The settings safeguarding policies should be followed
This information will then be shared with a senior member of staff
Why must codes of practice be published and followed by settings
To make sure the level of professional standard is made and if not a whistle blowing policy is in place to protect people who report and then the person reported against is investigated

Each professional body requires it members to take part in regular CPD
