To change the religion in a country, eg: Roman Catholic to Protestant

An indulgence was regarded as a passport to heaven. People paid to ensure their sins were forgiven and they would go to heaven when they died.
Heresy means?
Heresy is any provocative belief or theory that is strongly at variance with established beliefs or customs.
Excommunicate means?
To not be part of a particular church.
