Q

How did the Protestant Reformation change Christian beliefs?

A
  1. Martin Luther’s influence was massive. He split the Church into Catholic and Protestant. Some of his new beliefs the carried over into Protestantism were:
    - There are only two sacraments: baptism and marriage.
    - Salvation is obtained by faith, not works.
    - The Church should not be a hierarchy, it should be a community.
    - The worship service should be in the language of the people there: they should understand.
  2. Martin Luther didn’t believe in the use of indulgences (payments made to the Church for the absolvement of sins)
