Irenaeus - it’s not predictable tho, and why not just make it good?
Criticisms of Irenaeus:
Hume - world could be more hospitable and still teach us
Swinburne - suffering actually Is limited by lifespan and physical capacity - agrees we couldn’t be good without suffering tho
Irenaeus but better:
Hick - talks about epistemic distance and That’s why there’s suffering as well as becoming more god like, we’re all sin prone
Process theology:
Every event has a possible best outcome, but we don’t always pick it - inherent risk in that - Griffin
Could choose freely and always right:
Mackie - makes god immoral that it Didn’t do that
