Law: Behon Law
Language: Irish
Marriage Law: wives could keep their own names and property; divorce allowed; children born outside marriage entitled to a share in their father’s property
Land: belonged to the whole clan - person’s wealth calculated by how many cows they owned
Dress; women (long tunic and cloak (called a mantle); Men (knee length tunic and a marble)

A

Law: ruled by the English kings and queens…most of the people descended from the Normans
Language: English
Law: English common law - so called because it was common to all the English King’s subjects. The King appointed judges who would try for serious crimes
Marriage Law: wife took her husband’s name, divorce not allowed, children born outside marriage could not inherit their father’s property
Dress: English dress. Men and women wore shoes. Followed English fashion such as stockings, gowns and cloaks
