In the synagogue, a man with a withered hand went to Jesus. Jesus said, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save a life or kill?” He then asked the man to stretch out his arm and his hand was completely restored.
Explain what happened with ‘The Paralysed Man’.
Four men carried a paralysed man to Jesus but thee was a large crowd so they lowered the man through an opening in a building ceiling. Jesus saw their faith and said, “Son, your sins are forgiven”. Teachers of the law who saw this thought to themselves that only God can forgive sins. Jesus immediately knew in his heart what they were thinking and told them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say, “your sins are forgiven”, or, “Get up, take your mat and walk”? Jesus then said, “Get up, take your mat and walk” to the paralysed man who got up and walked home.
What happened at the healing of blind Bartimaeus?
As Jesus was leaving Jericho, a blind man called out saying, “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!” People rebuked him but he continued shouting. Jesus then called Bartimaeus to him. He asked what he wanted and Bartimaeus replied saying, “Rabbi, I want to see”. Jesus said, “Go, your faith has healed you”. Bartimaeus immediately received his sight and followed Jesus.
What happened with Jairus’ Daughter?
The ruler of a synagogue asked Jesus to heal his sick daughter and Jesus agreed. Some men came and said Jairus’ daughter had died but Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid, just believe”. When Jesus approached the house he saw a commotion and said, “Why all this commotion? The child is not dead but asleep”. Jesus went to the child with her parents and Peter, James and John. He held her hand and said, “Talitha Koum”. Immediately the girl stood up and walked around.
What can we learn from Jesus’ teachings?
That we can be healed if we have faith in God.
