Constantly reminded they were inferior, however there were not many policies directed at slavs
What was the pre-war policies against gypsies?
1933 onwards: gypsies sent to concentration camps
1938: if gypsies did not pass a medical test their German citizenship would be removed (these tests were designed so most failed)
What were the wartime poiicies towards Roma Gypsies
1939: Gypsies told they would be deported
1940: Deported to labour camps and Chelnau death camp
1942: Nazis ordered all Gypsies to be deported
By the end of the war, 85% of german gypsies were killed

A “J” or “S” was stamped on their passports
Israel or Sarah was added to Jews’ names
had to carry identity with J stamp so they could be recognised
