Why did Jesus tell this parable
In answer to the Pharisee’s question, “ Who is my neighbour?” Jesus could tell that the Pharisee did not consider every other human being to be his neighbour. There were only certain people that Pharisee would be willing to help, but Jesus wanted him to understand that if he saw a person in need, he should help them
What is the message of the parable
Jesus taught that a persons race should never be a consideration when deciding whether to help a person in need. In fact, he taught that there should be no consideration other than that it is always right to help a person in need, as we would wnt to be helped if we were in need. We should lover our neighbours as we love ourselves, regardless of skill colour or gender
Why were the Pharisees hostile towards Jesus
They did not like how he contradicted their teaching on forgiveness, wealth and outcasts
