What is “the palate”?
It is known as the “roof of the mouth” in humans and other mammals. This area makes up the superior (upper) portion of the oral cavity as well as the inferior (lower) portion of the nasal cavity.
What is the anatomy of the oral cavity consist of (about 18 parts)?
Maxillary Arch (upper jaw), Labial Frenum, Hard Palate, uvula, Gag Reflex, Lip, Labial Frenum, Mandibular Arch (lower jaw) Lingual Frenum, Tonsils, Oropharynx, Soft Palate, and Palatine Rugae, Gingivae, retromolar trigone, teeth, cheek mucosa, mobile tongue.
What is the “hard palate”?
It is a thin horizontal bony plate, the bony portion of the roof of the mouth made up of two bones of the facial skeleton.
