The Origins of the Indo-Aryans-Theory 1 and 2!โจ๐ Flashcards
What is the first theory and did it hold?
The first theory, accepted by many historians in the past, is the Aryan invasion theory. This theory held that the Aryans were nomadic warriors who crossed the mountains into India.
What did the Aryans ride and what did they use to defeat the local people?(T1)
They rode horse-drawn chariots and used iron weapons to defeat the local people.
what happened at the end of this(1) theory?
Then the Aryans settled in the Indus Valley and spread to other parts of India.
What is the second theory?
The second theory that others argue is that the Aryans were not invaders, but instead, they believe that the Aryans were Indiaโs original inhabitants.
What do the supporters of this theory(T2) say about the Indo-Aryans being invaders?
Supporters of this theory say that If the Indo-Aryans came from a region outside of India, like the Aryan Invasion theory suggests, the Vedas would refer to it. The Vedas, however, do not make any mention of such a place.
