What did the Allies decide?
The remaining Nazi leaders should be held responsible for their actions and should be punished. They wanted to show the world that actions carried out by the Nazis were crimes, and that respect for human dignity was more important than national laws.
Why were the trials publicised?
So that everyone would know what had happened and would realise that people have be accountable for their actions.
