The Nervous System Flashcards
What allows your body to receive information from inside and outside?
The nervous system allows your body to receive information from inside and outside the body, making you communicate and function.
What are the two main components of the nervous system?
The two main components of the nervous system are the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
What does the central nervous system consist of?
The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord.
What does the peripheral nervous system consist of?
The peripheral nervous system consists of nerves outside the CNS, connecting the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.
What does the 2 parts of the Peripheral Nervous system Consist of?
Somatic nervous system- voluntary movements like walking.
Autonomic nervous system- involuntary functions like breathing and digestion
The nervous systems main parts. CNS & PNS
Central Nervous System:
Brain- thoughts, feelings, movement and body functions.
Spinal cord- transmits signals between the brain and the rest of the body.
Peripheral Nervous System:
Somatic Nervous System- voluntary movements like walking.
Autonomic Nervous System- Involuntary functions like breathing and digestion.
