Monocultural
the active preservation of a country’s national culture via the exclusion of external influences.

Multicultural
Multiculturalism is a societal approach that values and encourages the harmonious coexistence of different cultural groups, promoting their contribution to the overall enrichment of society.

Hybrid
A society that comprises a range of social and cultural influences and components, rather than having a homogenous identity.
e.g. Hawaii, Fiji
Persons and their interactions with micro, meso and macro level society
Micro
The micro level examines individual social interactions within families and small groups, focusing on everyday actions and interactions within these groups.
e.g. immediate family, close friends
Meso
Meso-level society, also known as middle-level society, is a middle ground where individuals interact within groups like schools, communities, churches, and neighborhoods.
e.g. work friends, ravo, sport coach
Macro
The macro-level society encompasses social institutions like media, law, workplace, and government, shaping the social and cultural world, and examines how these collective groups relate to the broader society.
e.g. council, media, premier
Society as a construct

A socially created aspect of social life. Social constructionists argue that
society is actively and creatively produced by human beings rather than being merely given or taken for granted.

Gender
The socially constructed differences between females and males.
Sex
a set of biological attributes in humans making them either male or female
Social norms
the perceived informal, mostly unwritten, rules that define acceptable and appropriate doings in society.
Institutions
The structural components of a society through which its main concerns and activities are organised. Provide stability and continuity.
