A elaborate metaphor used to describe his injuries. Shows how fragile and delicate he is.
What does ‘the parachute silk of his punctured lung’ show?
Shows how delicate and fragile his lung is. The ‘parachute’ also links with the military and war.
What does the quote ‘feel the hurt of his grazed heart’ show?
Wounded- painful. BOTH mental and physical injuries. It could also show the strain on the relationship and how it was hard to keep loving/ supporting him when he wasn’t acting himself.

Shows the enduring strength of their relationships even in the most traumatic circumstances.
