• can also initiate laws through private member bills

• Commons is expected to scrutinise the Government yo ensure it is acting in-the public interest

• each MP represents a constituency and is expected to raise the grievances of their constituency with Parliament

Legitimation

• the commons passes laws in the name of the people as they are elected by the people

Accountability

• government and ministers and accountable to Parliament e.g Question time, votes of no confidence

• e-petitions with over 100,000 signatures have to be debated

Provide Ministers

• All UK Ministers must be members of Parliament
