2 lungs, narrow apex & wide base
R lung 3 lobes
L lung has 2 lobes
lobes are divided into segments divided by connective tissue, then into lobule

describe the pleural sac
A
each lung enclosed in pleural sac, 2 layers
outer parietal wall of each sac attached to chest wall
Inner visceral attached to lung beneath
Pleura separated thin layer of fluid allowing lung to slide over chest wall when inflating and deflating when breathing
