The Lobes Flashcards
The four lobes
The frontal lobe, the temporal lobe, the parietal lobe, and the occipital lobe
What the frontal lobes control (basic)
Reasoning, memory, and speech
What the temporal lobes control (basic)
Hearing, taste, and smell
What the parietal lobes control (basic)
Sensory processing (including touch)
What the occipital lobes control (basic)
Sight and visual information
The frontal lobes control (more in detail, has what it makes us, and what it specifically controls)
Many of the functions that make us human and individuals
Has our language center, which controls reading, writing, and speaking
Controls intelligence, which allows us to think, reason, and make decisions
Has memories
The temporal lobes control (more in detail, what is in it and how it works, and memory)
The direct link from the nose to the temporal lobe is called the olfactory tract
When you taste or smell something, the information is processed here
Memories of flavor and sounds are stored in this area
The parietal lobes control (more in detail and helps you determine what stuff)
Most of the information that comes from your senses come here
Helps you determines weight of stuff and pull information together about something
Keeps you aware of where your body is relative to other objects
The occipital lobes control (more in detail but still basic)
Primarily sight information
Visual memories are stored here
