The vena cava, the right side.
Which main artery is connected to the renal vein? Is the blood going to the heart or the kidneys?
The aorta, the kidneys.
What connects the kidneys to the bladder?
The ureter.
Which muscles control the urethral opening?
The sphincter muscles.
What connects the ureter and the kidney?
The pelvis.
What is the outer section of the kidney called?
The cortex.
What is the inner section of the kidney called?
The medulla.
What does blood travel through to get from the cortex to the medulla?
A nephron.
What does the glomerulus sit within?
A bowman’s capsule.
What moves between the glomerulus and the bowman’s capsule? By what process doe this occur?
Water and small molecules, via ultrafiltration.
Where do molecules move to after the bowman’s capsule?
The proximal convoluted tubule.
