Religious education encourages us to search for the meaning behind our own experiences in life
Worldview
A worldview is a way of looking at at explaining the world and life experiences
Belief
Worldviews are based on a person’s set of beliefs
Spiritual
Spiritual describes something bigger then the self
Sacred texts
Sacred texts are texts that religious traditions consider to be foundational to the practice of their beliefs
Rituals
Rituals are traditions that religions follow to celebrate their religions e.g. putting up a manger at Christmas
Faith
Faith is the unquestioning thing in something that does not need to be proved
Major world religions
Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism and Islam
Monotheism
The belief in one god
Polytheism
The belief in many gods
Atheism
The belief that their are not any gods
Secularism
The viewpoint that religion should have no direct influence on society or public life
Humanism
The belief that human existence is the only source of knowledge and the only code of behaviour to live by
Agnosticism
The view that human beings cannot know wether or not god exists
