What type of property transfer was used by the San?
A gift economy with generalised reciprocation (gifting someone knowing they will gift you in future)
What did the Inuit do with their catches?
The Inuit would share, as they believed the hunter had no property rights over the carcass, so could not exchange for anything.
What was the piqatigiit system?
A system used for ringed seals. If someone was gifted a heart, they became the heart companion to the hunter, and would gift back hearts.
How were bearded seals split up?
A free-for-all
What was the payuktuq system?
A system for fish and caribou, in which the hunter decides how to split the catch. Social expectations were to split fairly.
What is informal social control?
Processes which encourage a member of a community to adhere to social norms (penalties and morals)

Competition from multiple warlords to gain control of a community, purely due to private interests
