Explain how the internet works like a spider web
- The spider (internet) starts his work in the center and outer to the outer circle
- spider is very aware of every moment anywhere in the web and is able to move to that point immediately

- large central networks connected to large international one
- internet able to trace transactions carried out by specific computers

- large collection of interlinked documents that are available on web pages that you can view
- you can do multiple things on the internet
What is the difference between the WWW and the internet
The internet can stand on its own but the WWW needs the internet

- illegal to spread computer viruses
- unauthorized access by anyone is subject to prosecution
- E-commerce websites must abide by the rules and standards to protect the privacy and security of their clients
- ISP allow gov intercept e-mail and electronic communication

What is a virus?
Program deliberately created with the intention to harm other computers
How do viruses work?
- Attempt to replicate themselves this way spread to other computers as well
- programs operate without knowledge of user and often files and data destroyed
- only attack data and programs but software can also be effected
- new viruses created and spread daily
How does viruses spread?
- infected software downloaded from website
- infected CD’s or storage media shared between computers
- commonly by email where hidden in attachments
How do you detect the presence of a virus?
- files disappear without reason
- computer suddenly operates slowly
- functioning of programs are infected
- hard disk space is minimized
- user receives strange error messages
- computer refuses to reboot

How can you stay protected from viruses?
- install antivirus
- don’t open emails unfamiliar sources
- store email on stick then scan with antivirus
- don’t spread viruses yourself - scan attachment before sending it
- remove CD etc. from port before shutting down
- don’t use pirated software
- check storage media before use and scan computer for viruses on daily
