The Innocent Narrator Flashcards
Dracula
Harker is oblivious to the danger of the Count, which is ironic as he was highly educated
Suggesting the limitations of education and the scientific realisation from the Enlightenment
As are many of the other narrators in the text due to their rationality which as a result puts them in much danger
Multiple narrators make the text an even greater labyrinth in search of a ‘truth’ that never quite comes into view
TBC
Particularly in the first story the narrator is naive to the Marquis danger, and it is written in hindsight which perhaps makes the text more reliable
But also presents the danger society places women in by making them passive and forcing them into these roles that can harm them
The unnamed narrator makes it a universal voice, thus the texts speak for all women
