The Ideal Restorative Material Flashcards
What restorative material would be used anteriorly?
GI
RMGICs
Resin composite
What restorative material would be used posteriorly?
amalgam
What is an issue with tackiness?
gets pulled back out of the cavity
If not light curable how long is the working time?
infinite
In terms of pH how must the material be?
It must withstand the oral environment - challenging when eating and drinking as pH changes
What mechanical properties should the ideal material have?
strength
abrasion resistance
resistance to distortion by creep and deformation
What is creep?
the permanent deformation that increases with time under constant load or stress. It results due to long time exposure to large external mechanical stress with in limit of yielding and is more severe in material that are subjected to heat for long time.
What properties should the ideal material have in relation to dental pulp?
it should not inflame the pulp and kill it
