The job of the historian gathers as much evidence as possible from sources, so they can
cross-check their work
What is cross-checking?
When more than one source is used to make sure the information is correct
Where can a historian go to find sources?
Libraries, archives and museums
What is an archive?
A place that catalogues and stores a collection of written and other sources of information
What is a museum?
A place that collects and displays for public education and appreciation
What can the internet be used for?
The internet ca also be used to gather information

Accuracy, bias, exaggeration, propaganda
What is accuracy?
Involves judging how correct the information you are using is
What is bias?
When an account is not balanced, but unfairly favourers one side
What is exaggeration?
When something is represented as better or worse than it actually was
What is propaganda?
Information that has been designed to the influence the attitudes of the general public
What is chronology?
Put events into the sequence in which they happened
How are timelines divided?
Decades (10 yrs)
Centuries (100 yrs)
Millennia (1000 yrs)
What do we call any date before the birth of Jesus?
Either - BCE (Before the common era) or BC (Before Christ)
What do we call any date before after the birth of Jesus?
Either - CE (Common Era) or AD (Anno Domini)
What does reinterpreting history mean?
Means to see something in a new or different light
