What should you do in a stationary queue of traffic?
Put the hand brake (parking brake) on and the foot brake. Once the following traffic has stopped take your foot off the foot brake to deactivate brake lights so they don’t dazzle the people in the car behind
When should you use dipped headlights (or dim dipped if fitted)?
At night and in bad weather conditions to let other vehicles aware of your presence
When is it okay to go from dipped to full beam headlights when overtaking a vehicle?
When you’re level with the vehicle you’re overtaking and there isn’t another vehicle coming the other day which you might dazzle (if you need to apply full beam)
What is an unrestricted dual carriageway?
Where there is a barrier between the two ways of traffic and. No speed limit so the national one applied (70mph)
When may you use hazard warning lights?
When the vehicle is stationary and obstructing traffic or on a motor way or unrestricted dual carriage way and need to warn the people behind of a hazard ahead ( only should be used for long enough for the people to see it)

When you brake too harshly
What do locked wheels lead to?
A loss of control
What should you do if you’re skidding with locking brakes?
Take your foot off the foot brake and ease off the accelerator and turn in the direction of the skid
What should you do with anti lock brakes In the event of a skid?
Put your foot firmly on the foot brake and hold it down until you’ve reached the desired speed
What should you do after driving through water?
Test the breaks gently when it is safe to do so and if they’re not fully effective then apply light pressure when driving to help them dry out
What is the speed limit for a towing trailer on a motorway?
60mph
