What were the Jim Crow laws?

A

A series of state and local laws in the US that enforce racial segregation and discrimination against African-Americans primary in the southern state these laws acted in the late 19th century and remained in effect until the civil rights movement of the 1960s. African-Americans were subjected to systemic inequality denied by six civil rights and was segregated from white society and nearly every aspect of life.

A

it’s reflected in the character of skater who despite her good intentions to tell the story of the African-American maids, positioning herself as their voice in a racially segregated society. while she believes she is helping to expose injustices the maids face, her actions can be seen as a manifestation of the white Saviour complex as she assumes the role of the rescuer without fully recognising the agency of the made themselves, overlooking the fact that the maids already possess their own strength and wisdom and their struggles are ultimately defined by them not by a white outsider
