What does the heart do?
Pumps blood round your body
There are four chambers in the heart. What are the top two chambers called?
Atria
What are the bottom two chambers of the heart called?
Ventricals
What do the ventricles do?
Force blood out of the heart by contraction
What does the right ventricle do
The right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs
What does the left ventricle do
The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood around the body in a big artery called the aorta
What is the heart?
A big muscle
What is an artificial pacemaker?
A stand-in pacemaker that regularly sends little electric shocks to the heart.
How much does a pacemaker weigh?
20g-50g
What is a stent and what does it do?
A metal mesh pushed into the artery. A tiny balloon is inflated to expand the stent. The stent then holds the artery in place.
