The heart Flashcards
What are the two chambers in one side of the heart?
Atrium and ventricles
What divides the heart into two parts?
A muscular wall called the septum
What blood vessel brings deoxygenated blood back into the right atrium?
The Vena Cava
What blood vessel delivers oxygenated blood to the left atrium?

What blood vessel delivers deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs?
The pulmonary artery
What blood vessel delivers oxygenated blood to the body from the left ventricle?
The Aorta
Where is the tricuspid valve located?
Between the right atrium and right ventricle
Where is the bicuspid valve located?
Between the left atrium and the left ventricle
Where are the two semi-lunar valves located?
Between the right and left ventricles, and between the pulmonary artery and the aorta
What is pulmonary circulation?
deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs
oxygenated blood back to the left atrium
What is systemic circulation?
- oxygenated blood from the left ventricle to the body tissues
- deoxygenated blood back to the right atrium
