Who were the main people tried at the Trial of the Sixteen and what were they accused of?
Zinoviev and Kamenev.
They were charged with Kirov’s murder, as well as plotting to disrupt the FYPs and conspiring with foreign powers.

Bukharin, Rykov and their ‘accomplices’.
They were accused of attempting to overthrow socialism and the murder of Kirov. Bukharin was personally charged with attempting to assassinate Lenin. Bulgarian was never tortured, Stalin instead, threatened to execute his wife and child.
What was the outcome of the Trial of the Twenty One?
Bukharin confessed to ‘political responsibility’ for the crimes he was accused. However he refused to acknowledge guilt for any of the actual events that happened. He never confessed to trying to assassinate Lenin.
Bukharin was executed.
