-people were relying on credit

whats the cause for the drought in the prairies?
-Companies plowed the fields to make room for new crops
-Doing so eliminated the deep-rooted native prairie grasses
-the overflowed farmland had no anchor to the each, causing soils to blow off of the fields
whats the dust bowl?
its the area they plowed, where crops were lost, and the soil reduced to dust.

-men were unemployed and extremely poor
-They would ride in empty freight cars or hitchhike along highways in hope that there would be work on the next farm.

Government would set up camps in some parts of the country for men that needed shelter and food ex
what happened in relief camps?
-inmates would work 8 hours 6 days a week building roads, dug ditches and planted trees
- Each worker received clothes, a bed, food and 20 cents a day.
